Thanks. Worked for me. I don't like the hide feature, but I like it better than crashing!
ReplyDeleteFYI, at least on W7, you can just enable the Show Tray Icon in some instances to eliminate the error.
ReplyDeleteWorked like a charm! This is a stupid bug. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, this solved my problem!
ReplyDeleteThanks a ton..was fighting with it for a long time. I tried many other installers but none of them worked. Simple solution.
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
Kris
thanks !
ReplyDeleteThanks, it solved my problem as well! One detail though, you don't have to select the "Hide when minimized" option, only the "Show tray icon" will do.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
Zacchi

Ohh Man! Thanks a lot. I was struggling with this. Such a silly bug.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I unchecked both of those cuz I didn't want the tray icon, weird that it caused these errors. But, it is all better now. :)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH - KEEP UP WITH THE GOOD WORK!
ReplyDeletethanks for solution
ReplyDeleteHey, you are the man!!
ReplyDeleteThanks man!
ReplyDeleteGreate, thanks for the informative post - this was the first link in Google. Did this start happening to anyone BEFORE they selected one of those options ? I had previously select the hide when minimized and show tray icon options. I had problems with restoring the program when minimized and hidden. It would work for a while, then the tray icon would become unresponsive and show no options so I would have to use task manager to kill the program and the PuTTY tasks and resart everything, so i turned those options off. Then after a reboot, I started having this issue. I'm wondering if there are some registry keys or some .ini file I can edit ?
ReplyDelete*** found it - go into the registry at HKCU\Software\ACS\PuTTY Connection Manager. Export the key to make a backup.
Delete the (2 on my computer) keys that relate to the 2 options discussed above. After I restarted the program, it worked fine again.
Thanks! You're a life saver!
ReplyDeleteThanks...
ReplyDeleteThanks! Another user saved! Appreciate the help
ReplyDeleteCheers for the tip :)
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem too. I just enable the "Show tray icon (restart necessary)". I did not enable the "Hide when minimized". Still it is working.

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. I just checked the 'show tray icon' and its back to normal !!
ReplyDelete"I had problems with restoring the program when minimized and hidden. It would work for a while, then the tray icon would become unresponsive and show no options"
ReplyDeleteSame error (windows 7 - 64 bit), solving by amazing action :
1 - right click on the tray icon
2 - hold right click and realize a left click
Then the menu appear ! & 0
