hi,

when working with putty connection mgr i get the below error:
4/5/2010 3:48:47 PM:RUNTIME ERROR : Unknown exception occured
4/5/2010 3:48:47 PM:  Error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
4/5/2010 3:48:47 PM:  StackTrace :

  6. Thanks. Worked for me. I don't like the hide feature, but I like it better than crashing!

  7. FYI, at least on W7, you can just enable the Show Tray Icon in some instances to eliminate the error.

  11. Thanks, it solved my problem as well! One detail though, you don't have to select the "Hide when minimized" option, only the "Show tray icon" will do.

    Best regards,

  20. Greate, thanks for the informative post - this was the first link in Google. Did this start happening to anyone BEFORE they selected one of those options ? I had previously select the hide when minimized and show tray icon options. I had problems with restoring the program when minimized and hidden. It would work for a while, then the tray icon would become unresponsive and show no options so I would have to use task manager to kill the program and the PuTTY tasks and resart everything, so i turned those options off. Then after a reboot, I started having this issue. I'm wondering if there are some registry keys or some .ini file I can edit ?

*** found it - go into the registry at HKCU\Software\ACS\PuTTY Connection Manager. Export the key to make a backup.
Delete the (2 on my computer) keys that relate to the 2 options discussed above. After I restarted the program, it worked fine again.

  42. "I had problems with restoring the program when minimized and hidden. It would work for a while, then the tray icon would become unresponsive and show no options"

Same error (windows 7 - 64 bit), solving by amazing action :

1 - right click on the tray icon
2 - hold right click and realize a left click

    Then the menu appear ! & 0
